Lesson 6 Principle & Step:
Principle 3: Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control. Happy are the meek. Matthew 5:5
Step 3: We made a decision to turn our lives and our will over to the care of God. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1
Lesson 6 Highlights:
Even after taking the first two steps we can still get stuck in the cycle of failure:
- Accept Jesus as our personal Savior: Committing your life to Jesus
- Commit to seek and follow HIS will: Willpower is the willingness to accept God’s power, His perfect will.
- Turn it over: Let go and let God! Turn all things big and small over to God… God wants all of you.
- It’s only the beginning: This is our initial decision to follow Christ and grow into mature Christians.
- One day at a time: Healing/recovery happens one day at a time. If we stay stuck in yesterday or worried about tomorrow, we miss the gift and blessings of the present
- Next, How do I ask Christ into my life?: Based on my understanding of scripture:
Believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He died and rose from the dead.
Believe that Jesus’ death frees us from our sin.
Repent of your sins and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins.
“For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved” Romans 10:9-11
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. Acts 2:38
