Lesson 2 – Principle & Step:
Principle 1: Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor. Matthew 5:3
Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors—that our lives had become unmanageable. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:18
Lesson 2 – Highlights:
- Pride can be dangerous: Pride, aka EGO, “Edges God Out”, humility brings honor.
- Only ifs cause us to live in the past: We get trapped in a fantasyland of rationalization.
- Worry: Is disruptive and is simply a form of not trusting God.
- Escape: Denial allows us to live in a fantasy world, we then place unrealistic expectations on ourselves and others.
- Resentment: Is like a poison if left to fester… You drink it expecting someone else to die.
- Loneliness: Is a conscious choice to be alone.
- Emptiness: Devoid of hope or purpose.
- Selfishness: We focus more on self and pray give me, give me, give me.
- Separation: Separation from God is caused by us, not Him.
- Stop denying you are in pain.
- Stop playing God.
- Start admitting your powerlessness.
- Start admitting that your life is unmanageable.
